ProPEL TAD Welcomes New Editorial Board Members
Technology | Architecture + Design is pleased to welcome five new members to the Editorial Board: Timothy Adekunle of University of Hartford, Lola Ben-Alon of Columbia University, Matan Mayer of IE University, David Newton of University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and Theodora Vardouli of McGill University. Each member brings significant expertise and experience to advancing the mission of TAD.
TAD is now entering its fifth year of publication and is growing in its manuscript volume and readership. It is also being added to the most competitive journal indexes, such as Web of Science and Scopus. The TAD Editorial Board is a highly collaborative group that involves all of its members in various aspects of the peer review and publication process. TAD continues to demonstrate a commitment to rigorous peer review as well as a highly reflective editorial process that attends to TAD’s role in advancing research and scholarship in the discipline. One of TAD’s great strengths is that it provides opportunities for a wide range of research and scholarly approaches, using the intersection of technology and design as the point of departure. Timothy Adekunle is an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Hartford where he focuses on environmental systems, technology, and sustainable materials. He has served as the Associate Editor for the ASEE’s COED Journal and the International Journal of the Constructed Environment. Timothy has also practiced in the US, UK, and Nigeria.
Lola Ben-Alon is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Architecture at Columbia University, where she also serves as Director of the Building Technology sequence. She is focused on research in building materials and energy performance. She brings expertise in natural and bio-based materials, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), and exhibitions.
Matan Mayer is an Associate Professor of Architecture at IE University in Segovia, Spain. His research expertise includes circularity, LCA, and deconstruction. He has served on multiple scientific committees including the Association for Computer-Aided Design in Architecture International Conference (ACADIA), AIA/ACSA Intersections Research Conference, and the International Conference on Actionable Science for Urban Sustainability.
David Newton is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. His research includes work on general AI, deep learning, and performance-driven design in architecture. David holds Master degrees in both Architecture and Computer Science.
Theodora Vardouli is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at McGill University in Montreal. Her background combines architectural engineering, studies in design and computation, and in design and philosophy. She is co-editor of Computer Architectures: Constructing the Common Ground and is currently working on a book manuscript on modern mathematics and architecture under contract with the MIT Press.
