Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Humanities in Architecture

 

Department of Architecture at the School of Sciences and Engineering, seeks employment for Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the area of Humanities in Architecture starting Fall 2024. The successful candidate is expected to be active and capable of developing research, provide services in his/her field of specialization. Applicants must have extensive experience in the area of humanities in architectural design and possess exemplary teaching skills. He/she is expected to contribute to the exploration of humanities aspects in architectural design within the Bachelor of Architecture Program at the American University in Cairo, also to establish and pursue a research focus in the area of humanities, environmental psychology and architectural research methods, and to lead an architectural design studio focused on the aspects of humanities to ensure that students acquire appropriate knowledge, understanding and related skills and to contribute to selected history, theory and criticism courses, as well as thesis supervision in the MSc in Architecture degree along with other members of the department. Expertise in the area of interior design is a plus.

Candidates must have a Doctoral Degree in Architecture. She/he should have a significant academic experience in the area of humanities as related to architectural design; preferably a candidate with a North American or a similar experience. Of particular interest are candidates who demonstrate experiential/educational design excellence.
