Annual Meeting Proceedings

Author(s): Michael Hall

Stadia design has changed dramatically in recent yearsdue in part to changes in health and safety guidelinesand the emergence of new commercial opportunities.Unfortunately, this has led to many recent exampleswhere stadia have become divorced from the socialfabric of the cities they once served. This paper seeks toexplore the role that surrounding social infrastructureand other enabling developments can have in bindingthe stadium typology back into the urban and socialfabric of our cities.
