Slip Mounted Single Point Deformation (SMSPD) allowspanels to be incrementally formed out of sheet metalinto doubly-curved complex shapes using a roboticarm and a stylus-like end effector. SMSPD leveragesindustrial robots’ precision and strength by graduallypushing the end effector into vertically supportedsheet metal. SMSPD investigates material types, endeffector refinement, and tool path generation, as wellhow fixturing of the material plays into the final formgeneration.
