On Form, Function and Ambiguity

Fall Conference Proceedings

Author(s): Grego Corso & Molly Hunker

One of the most trite and often recited relationships in architecturaldesign is “form follows function.” While this notion seems superficial, and even anachronistic, in contemporay discourse, this tenet may be more productive if one considers both of these architectural staples as more malleable equivalents. The equation can then be an exercise in formal experimentation and experiential discovery where form is a vocabulary and function is a spectrum.
