How can an architectural exhibition speak to ideasof between-ness? How can a temporal event forevertransform the understanding of a place? In2014, along with a small talented team, we startedworking on a project with the goal to transform andheighten awareness of the architectural legacy ofColumbus, Indiana, through the production of contemporaryarchitecture and design. In this paper, wewill describe Exhibit Columbus’ curatorial premisesof dialogue and context through the lens of our multipleroles: as members of the steering committeethat defined its curatorial vision, as university installationcoordinators who hope to impact architectureeducation in the Midwest, faculty research, andthoughts on pedagogy, and finally as instructor fora design-build studio.
