TAD 7:1 Tectonics

Changing performance criteria and evolving digital technologies contribute to the transformation of design mechanisms and question the logic of construction across all scales. The continuing digitalization of design, fabrication, and construction suggests a changing investigation of architectural tectonics, identifying updated frameworks that define the contemporary role not only of structures and their details but of all processes and supply chains involved. Reparations! invites architectural design proposals, speculative studies, and scholarly research addressing reparations in the built and destroyed environment. As architecture gives shape to asymmetrical effects on the environment, we ask how reparations look, operate, and affect Black and Indigenous communities, and what the potential effects are upon the state of architectural education and practice.
