Expanding the View: Prospects for Architecture Libraries and Architectural Education

AASL is delighted to announce the first-ever joint virtual conference with the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. The pandemic has brought many unexpected challenges, but happily, there are also unexpected opportunities. Undoubtedly virtual meeting and collaboration space are some of them, and this year our two professional associations are teaming up to allow registered attendees to join sessions from both annual meetings.

Our theme this year is Expanding the View. We will be exploring prospects for architecture libraries and architectural education considering the critical contemporary issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. We will look at ways in which the library’s role has expanded through emerging technologies such as digital humanities, data curation, and visualization. We will investigate new modes for knowledge creation and dissemination. Perhaps most exciting, the unique nature of this year’s conference allows us to share successful interdisciplinary collaborations that have arisen within newly digitized spaces. Sessions dealing specifically with librarian-faculty collaborations are intended to draw an audience from both professional organizations and build relationships between association members.

Our schedule allows time for attendees to participate in ACSA research sessions, join virtual tours, and network with colleagues through social events including an ice breaker, trivia session, and happy hour. Registration is now open! To find out more, please visit the Conference Website.
