The University of Oregon’s School of Architecture & Environment, part of the College of Design, seeks a Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor for the 2024-2025 academic year. This position requires expertise in building structures to teach Structural Behavior in the fall term and Structural Design in the winter term. Additional opportunities to teach studios and seminars may be available, depending on the applicant’s interests and appointment duration. The role involves teaching classes in Eugene, with streaming to students in Portland, allowing flexibility to teach from either campus.
Department Overview:
The Department of Architecture is integral to the School of Architecture & Environment, offering accredited graduate and undergraduate professional degrees, including a Ph.D. in architecture. The University of Oregon is a tier-one research institution, recognized for its high research activity by the Carnegie Classification. Our main campus is in Eugene, with additional programs in Portland. Both cities are known for their progressive, bike-friendly, and family-friendly environments, with a strong focus on carbon emissions reduction and community well-being.

The University of Oregon is situated on the traditional lands of the Southern Kalapuya people. Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855, the Kalapuya were forcibly relocated to the Coast Reservation in Western Oregon. Today, their descendants are part of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon.
