Clinical Assistant Professor (Assistant Director)

 

Description:
The School of Architecture, in the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts, at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), invites applications for the position as Clinical Assistant Professor (with an initial term of one to three years, full-time). Appointments will begin in August 2021 or later. Job ID #140123.

Duties:
The successful candidate will have a minimum two years experience teaching undergraduate seminars and lecture courses, and be able to develop curriculum for both BA and BS students in architecture, as well as General Education electives for non-majors. The parallel administrative appointment as Assistant Director for Events and Publications will be renewable annually at the discretion of the Director of the School and will entail partial course release. While serving as Assistant Director, the candidate will work with the Director to produce inventive public programs that advance the School’s reputation and identity. The Assistant Director will also oversee publications and other media platforms (web-based and digital) that ensure consistent internal and external communication to various audiences, and help refine the School’s evolving institutional voice. In addition to the teaching experience outlined above, the successful candidate will have at least three years experience leading and delivering projects as an editor and writer in architecture, and a record of conceptualizing and organizing public events. A Masters in architectural or design theory and criticism is required.

The School of Architecture offers five degree programs: a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies; a professional, NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture; a post-professional Master of Science in Architecture; and a Master of Arts in Design Criticism.
