Our tools have always been, necessarily, both powerful and poisionous, in part, becasue tool ontology is an ontology of partial determinism. That is, the strength of the tool is such that it focuses a particular interaction with the world, which unlocks otherwise unavailable potentials; itdoes this by way of exclusion, and thus partly determines its own ends. This power/poison lies at the heart of the digital pharmakon.
