Small fragments of resistance

Architecture is the space where the story happens, where conflicts are declared and the critical issues are solved; it can be the mirror of the place conditions, a Manifesto of human, social and politic story. The Israeli Palestinian conflict gives us, for exemple, a picture of political and social issues unresolved for long time. Architecture becomes symbol through the refugee camp and the occupied cities, almost as if to produce a political/religious disurbanization. The project starts from two places: the city of Hebron and the At-Tuwany village. The first case analyzes the main street of Hebron, Shuhada Street, which represented the beating heart of the city made inaccessible to the Palestinians. The project imagines to taking over again the homes stolen from the Palestinians through a real occupation of the building’s facade. If it is not possible to access the buildings directly from Shuhada Street, the project involves access from the opposite side of the street and the creation of a parasitic device that is inserted inside the houses recreating the market economy that had been abolished. The second study case is the village of At-Tuwani and the route that leads the children of the Palestinian colonies to the nearest school. The device consists in a suspended walkway that also contains squares for the community. The project proposes small fragments of resistance, aware of not being the solution of a political problem, but with the aim of telling a possible point of view to live in equity and social justice.
