CALL FOR DESIGN+RESEARCH PROJECTS

Submission Deadline EXTENDED: April 28, 2014
The 2014 Fall Conference co-chairs invite project submissions that that address the range of topics related to the potential of design/build and explore the following themes (1) Theory (2) Practice (3) Education. In an effort to broaden the dialogue between the profession and the academy, professional design + research projects relating to the themes are encouraged. 

JURY

A jury of educators, scholars and practitioners will curate the most provocative project proposals into themes and lead a panel discussion during the conference. Jury members: TBD

Accepted authors will participate in presentation sessions at the conference, and projects will be published in a digital Proceedings.  

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 
    • Authors will submit a 500-word abstract along with a digital poster (20”x30” portrait orientation PDF or JPEG file).
    • Abstracts and posters must be formatted for blind peer review (remove names and affiliation identification).
    • All authors submitting projects or papers must be faculty, students, or staff at ACSA member schools, or become supporting ACSA members at the time of submission. Join ACSA.

It is ACSA policy that authors must pay full conference registration for the 2014 ACSA Fall Conference in order to be included in the conference presentation and digital Proceedings. 

HOW TO SUBMIT 

The deadline for submitting a project to the Fall Conference is EXTENDED to April 28, 2014. Authors will submit through the ACSA online interface. When submitting your project, you will be guided through the following steps:

    1. Log in with your ACSA username and password. Forgot Password?
    2. Select the Session Topic for your submission.
    3. Enter the title of your project.
    4. Enter (copy/paste) your abstract.
    5. Add additional authors for your project, if any.
    6. * Omit all author names from the abstract and any other identifying information to maintain an anonymous review process.
    7. Upload your poster (20”x30” portrait orientation, PDF or JPEG).
    8. Click Submit to finalize your submission. Note: Your project is not submitted unless you click the Submit button and receive an automatic email confirmation.

 

PROJECT PRESENTATION

Accepted authors will present their Design+Research projects during presentation sessions to discuss them with other participants and attendees. In addition, given the nature of Working Out, we will experiment with a presentation format in which selected projects will undergo a public review much like a “crit” with several well-respected design/build practitioners acting as critics.
