Each year the ACSA honors architectural educators for exemplary work in areas such as building design, community collaborations, scholarship, and service. The award-winning professors inspire and challenge students, contribute to the profession’s knowledge base, and extend their work beyond the borders of academy into practice and the public sector. 

Please join us at the ACSA 101st Annual Meeting in San Francisco where ACSA will hold the Awards Plenary: Design & Project Awards Ceremony and the Topaz & Career Awards Ceremony on March 22, 2013. The ACSA will publish a digital 2012-2013 Architecture Education Awards Book. View past winners and summary books online.

2013 AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion
The AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion for Excellence in Architectural Education is awarded jointly by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) to an individual, who must be living at the time of nomination, who has spent at least a decade primarily involved in architectural education, and whose primary contribution to architectural education has been on the North American continent.

  • Robert Greenstreet

    Greenstreet is an accomplished architect, prolific author, and celebrated educator. In his more than 35-year career, Greenstreet has taught at five schools of architecture in the United Kingdom and the United States. He has spent the last 20 years as dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), making him one of the longest-serving architecture deans in North America. Greenstreet has authored or co-authored seven books devoted to various areas of professional practice, with a particular focus on architecture and the law. At UWM he developed and taught several new courses, including those focused on advanced presentation techniques, building technology, and law and practice for architects. He also spearheaded interdisciplinary and professional program development between architecture students and those studying such diverse subjects as film, art history, engineering, business, and law.  Learn More

Certificate of Recognition: To recognize the work of faculty, administrators, or students in creating effective methods and models to achieve greater diversity in curricula, school personnel, and student bodies, specifically to incorporate the participation and contributions of historically under-represented groups or contexts.
