The School of Architecture seeks candidates for a full-time, renewable Instructor position in the area of Architectural History and Theories to begin in the fall of 2019.  The successful candidate will have the ability to guide students through thoughtful examinations of historical precedents of building and architectural ideas, and drawing productive connections between architecture and interiors.  In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to thoughtfully teach design studio with an emphasis on an iterative process, formal intent, material speculation, and social agency. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the three-course History and Theories of Architecture sequence, which is shared with the Interior Architecture Program, and design studios each semester.

As a professional school in a liberal arts university, our accredited Architecture and Interior Architecture programs encourage critical inquiry into the built environment. From interior objects to urban environments, we seek to engage the world at a range of scales with conceptual and formal clarity, disciplinary consciousness, social agency, and material speculation. This practice conditions the Architecture and Interior Architecture programs through shared courses and faculty that seek to uncover broad overlaps, points of transfer, common values, and shared skill-sets between and among the two disciplines.

Required Minimum Qualifications:A Mastersof Architecture or a post-professional graduate degree in the field and/or a terminal graduate degree in interior architecture/design, or in an allied design discipline.   

Preferred Qualifications: A post-professional degree in Architectural History and/or Theory (PhD or MS), and/or an established scholarly record in the areas of Architectural History and Theory.
