The School of Architecture in the College for Design and Social inquiry at Florida Atlantic University invites qualified applications for the following position: a faculty member at the level of Instructor in Architecture, with expertise in Professional Practice and Architectural Design.

The School of Architecture fosters integrative and innovative design in preparation for architectural practice. Students develop critical thinking skills and knowledge through exposure to historical and theoretical foundations, emerging technologies, interdisciplinary research, community engagement, and ethical responsibilities of design. 

Instructor in Architecture: This is a full time instructor position on a 12-month renewable contract, with an initial three-year term, and will begin in August 2019. The position is not tenurable, but is promotable. This position has teaching and service requirements. The position has no research requirements.  

The successful candidate will teach a combination of design studio courses and lecture courses, for a total of 30 credit hours for the year, that shall be distributed between the fall, spring and summer semesters.  The successful candidate will also serve as Coordinator for the Institute of Design and Construction (IDaC), and will oversee all activities of IDaC including continuing education programs, certificate training programs, and the Architecture Career Discovery Summer Program. The candidate is also expected to work with the Director and Associate Director of the School of Architecture to develop a business and marketing plan for IDaC.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates for this position must have a terminal degree (eg M. Arch, M.S.  or a PhD) in their area of specialization and experience in teaching, research, design, and/or professional work. Professional architectural licensure in a U.S. jurisdiction is required. All candidates must have the terminal degree at the time of application.
