About FIU Department of Architecture

With over 450 students, the Department of Architecture educates students in the profession of architecture to become thoughtful practitioners and critical thinkers. Students arrive at various points in their educational careers—as freshmen, as third-year transfer students, and as graduate students to pursue an accredited, professional Master of Architecture degree. The school also offers a post-professional Masters of Arts in Architecture in which students have opportunities to teach, research, and explore independent topics in close collaboration with our full-time faculty. As a Department residing in the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA), we engage in interdisciplinary and innovative collaborative research projects. 

The Department’s facilities are located in the award-wining Paul L. Cejas School of Architecture Building designed by Bernard Tschumi, which includes the Fabrication,Robotics and Digital Fabrication, and Structural and Environmental Technologies Labs. Additional facilities include the Miami Beach Urban Studios that houses the new 3D printing technologies CARTA Innovation Lab. Our faculty is engaged in a wide range of research and creative activities in sustainability and climate change, urbanism, affordable housing, green building automation, innovative teaching techniques, culture and history of global modernism, performative scripting, digital fabrication and architectural installations. Position Description

The Department of Architecture in the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts at Florida International University invites applications for a 9 month, non-tenure earning, Instructor of Technology, position to teach technology related courses. Primary teaching responsibilities include courses in the technology fields of Environmental Systems, Green Building Technologies, Sustainability Design, Digital Design, and their associated software, technology and equipment. The faculty in this position will also work to elevate our investments in new technologies: our Structural + Environmental Technologies, Robotic and Digital Fabrication Laboratory, Integrated Computer Assisted Virtual Environment, Fabrication Lab, and Innovation Lab at Miami Beach Urban Studios. The assignment begins in August 2019.
