Assistant / Associate Professor in Environmental Technology 
Assistant / Associate Professor in Design and Computation  

The School of Architecture in the College for Design and Social inquiry at Florida Atlantic University invites qualified applications for the following positions: (1) a faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in Environmental Technology; and, (2) a faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in Design and Computation.

The mission of the School of Architecture is to advance education, research, and design solutions that enhance the quality of built environments.The program is situated within South Florida’s dynamic coastal and urban environment providing a laboratory for investigating new tools and methods of design in an era of disruption. The School of Architecture fosters integrative and innovative design in preparation for architectural practice. Students develop critical thinking skills and knowledge through exposure to historical and theoretical foundations, emerging technologies, interdisciplinary research, community engagement, and ethical responsibilities of design. 

Assistant / Associate Professor in Environmental Technology:  This position is a full time tenure-track appointment and will begin in August 2019. Position responsibilities include teaching, advancing a research agenda through scholarship, securing extramural grants; contract funding; individual and collaborative research and applied research activities within the discipline that are preferably aligned with university research pillars;  and/or creative practice, together with participation in the responsibilities of the School, College, University and community. 

Teaching responsibilities will include instruction in design studios, and support courses linked to research related to environmental technology, thermal comfort, passive + active systems, and climate responsiveness. Applicants must have digital literacy pertaining to their areas of expertise, including modeling, simulation and assessment tools. We seek candidates demonstrating a record of externally funded research, creative activities, publications,  and/or excellence in design.

The successful candidate will be accomplished in architectural design, and in the application of experimental forms of computation  in design, and will provide instruction in applied and theoretical computational design. Teaching responsibilities will include instruction in design studios, and support courses linked to research that are related to computation in architecture. We seek candidates demonstrating a record of externally funded research, creative activities, publications, and/or excellence in design.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates for all tenure track positions must have a terminal degree (e.g. M. Arch, M.S.  or a PhD) in the area of specialization, and experience in teaching, research, design, and/or professional work. Professional licensure in a U.S. jurisdiction is preferred.  All candidates must have the terminal degree at the time of application.
