The Interior Architecture Program, University of Oregon, is seeking applications for a full-time (9 month) non-tenure track visiting professor position to begin September 2018 with a focus on the practice of contemporary interior design. The position ends on June 15, 2019, with the possibility of renewal for the following academic year. This position is open to early career applicants and to established professionals or academics. For accomplished applicants there is potential to couple the visiting position with an endowed chair.
The program faculty is intentionally interdisciplinary, and offers coursework covering a wide spectrum of interior design interests and areas. We are a collegial, engaged and energetic design community that values diverse viewpoints and the making of richly supportive socially and environmentally responsive places. We view research and scholarship as important means to improving design and planning practice. Individuals take part in a wide range of scholarship and creative practice, some conducted independently and some intensely collaborative and interdisciplinary. We believe that the integration of research and practice is integral to training design students and to cultivating mutually supportive links between theory and practice, thus advancing the field.
1. A terminal degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field is required.
2. Previous teaching and/or practice is required.
3. NCIDQ certification is preferred.
