The WSU Interior Design Program, School of Design and Construction, College of Engineering, Washington State University in Pullman, WA invites applications for a permanent, full-time, tenure-track 9-month academic appointment position as Assistant Professor to begin on August 16, 2018. The Program seeks forward-thinking candidates with the vision, passion and expertise required to train the future leaders and advance the field of Interior Design. We are looking for candidates who are student centered, collaborative, and technologically and professionally competent. The successful candidate will advance the program’s vision of leadership and excellence in design education, research and scholarship; innovation and emergent technologies; and environmental, cultural, and societal stewardship.  The successful candidate will teach the conventions and potential of contemporary interior design practice in studio and lecture based settings; teach a minimum of four courses per year including required and elective courses across multiple disciplines (Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, and Architecture) within the School; advance a program of research and/or creative scholarship; participate on committees and provide other service to the Program, School, College and University; and mentor students.  S/he will also contribute to the development of the Interior Design program and an established culture of integration and collaboration among the allied disciplines within the School and assist in increasing the ID program's presence across the University, the region, the state, and beyond.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or closely related discipline by employment start date; demonstrated excellence in teaching design studio and lecture courses; expertise in design visualization and representation, especially through emergent digital media; and established or promising program of creative scholarship/research.
