The Architecture Program in The College of Architecture, Visual Arts, and Design at California Baptist University seeks up to two highly motivated applicants with an entrepreneurial spirit for the position of full-time tenure-track faculty in Architecture. The Architecture program is a rapidly growing M.Arch degree program dedicated to the integration of Christian thought and values; cutting-edge architectural pedagogy; and reflective practice of architecture. The architecture program at CBU graduates future architects who possess an extraordinary attention to Christian faith perspectives within the discipline, personal integrity and ethical practices, and leadership in service, all in the context of a professional program.
The ideal candidate will be able to bring either academic teaching experience or credible experience in the practice of architecture. Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of coursework at the undergraduate and graduate level. Ideal candidates will be able to successfully demonstrate their ability to teach and carry out a research agenda in the areas of: 1) Architectural Design, 2) Digital Representation and Prototyping, 3) Environmental Technology, or 4) Other University mission relevant design specialties (e.g. urban design, community design, humanitarian design, etc).
Successful candidates will:
1) Hold a terminal M.Arch degree or Ph.D in architecture or related field;
2) Demonstrate university level teaching experience including architectural design studios, or notable architectural practice;
3) Be able to articulate existing or developing research / creative practice agendas that will expand or enrich the schools pedagogy.
4) Demonstrate a history of service to the profession and/or the broader community.
The architecture program is an active part of a broader College of design which seeks to foster collaboration between a growing number of design disciplines (Graphic Design, Photography, Film, Fine Art), and an active collaborator with the College of Engineering (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc). Successful candidates will come with interest in participating and fostering cross-disciplinary inquiry across design and / or engineering disciplines.
These positions are 9 month tenure-track appointments. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidates are expected to assume duties August 13, 2018.
