The Architecture Section of the Knowlton School is seeking candidates at the Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with Tenure level for a position in architecture. Candidates should have a dedicated interest in design, research, or scholarship, specifically in the area of advanced materials and sustainable practices including their application, history, and theory.  The position will begin in August 2018.

This position is part of Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact. The Architecture Section seeks candidates who demonstrate promise of significant contribution to design, research and scholarship and a productive enthusiasm for teaching. Responsibilities would include design studios, core courses, and seminars in areas of the candidate’s research interests. 

Within an award-winning facility, the Knowlton School of Architecture fosters a unique environment for innovative design and critical inquiry. The regional base of the School is complemented by a broad global agenda, evidenced by international programs and initiatives. Augmenting the intellectual environment of the Section are the Baumer Visiting Professorships, LeFevre Emerging Practitioner Fellowship, and outstanding lecture and exhibition series.  Publications include Source Books, PRAXIS, and 1:12.  The School enjoys the benefits of a large research institution with collaborative relationships throughout the university and the College of Engineering as well as the Wexner Center for the Arts and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design.  The region’s many cities provide a convenient variety of research opportunities for much of the School’s scholarship and design studios. 

Applicants must hold a professional degree or a PhD in Architecture or related discipline.  Preferred qualifications include evidence of significant research/creative work and the ability to develop and teach courses that emphasize core skills and specialties in architectural design.
