California College of the Arts
The Interior Design Program at CCA offers a BFA degree and is one of three programs in the Architecture Division at California College of the Arts. The program is founded on the idea that the design of interior spaces can transform organizations and change communities. Our curriculum builds expertise in the construction of environments for living and working, putting equal emphasis on the spatial and the technical aspects of design. Experiments with materials provide a unique opportunity to test new ideas at full scale in a robust context of interdisciplinary innovation and learning at CCA.
The Bay Area is a known global hub for technological and cultural innovation and San Francisco is one of the greatest assets to the Program. We actively pursue opportunities for engagement with local professional partners, organizations and communities to broaden our contribution to the larger civic community. CCA’s Center for Art and Public Life facilitates community engagement and partnerships that support interior design work for social advocacy and participatory practice. We sustain an ambitious public program of events through our lecture series, exhibitions and symposia, while also bringing local design and technology professionals into our academic environment as faculty and participants in our reviews throughout the year.
CCA is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Interior Design to begin August 2018.
The successful candidate will have experience as an interior design professional and academic, with a demonstrated trajectory of experimental, research-oriented interior design practice. Teaching responsibilities in the program will include Design Studios and Materiality & Space Studios, with additional teaching in one of the following areas of expertise: lighting design, building technology, representation, fabrication and materiality, computation, smart systems. Service to the program and the college is expected.
