Assistant/Associate Professor of Interior Architecture
Samford University’s Department of Interior Architecture invites applicants to apply for an anticipated opening for an assistant/associate professor of interior architecture. This full-time, tenure track faculty will begin August 2018. This position will teach undergraduate courses in interior design, graduate courses in design studies, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will be graduates of an accredited school with an earned master’s of architecture degree, or a bachelor’s of architecture and a master’s degree in a related field such as interior design. Candidates will also hold either the NCARB or NCIDQ certification. Desired areas of specialization include interior design, architectural design, and design history and theory. Preference may be given to candidates who have significant professional work experience in the field of architecture and interior design; proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Abobe programs; LEED accredited professional; and relevant teaching experience including upper-level interior design studios.
Candidates should have a current record of scholarship (creative work) in interior design or architecture and a passion for and record of teaching interior design at an advanced level. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and colleagues is expected. The candidate should embrace the vision of Samford University, the School of the Arts and the Division of Art and Design. Candidates must be willing to support the university’s Christian mission.
Academic rank, tenure and salary are dependent upon academic qualifications and previous academic teaching experiences.
