The School of Architecture of Yale University invites applications for a senior faculty appointment in the History and Theory of Architecture and Urbanism.  The appointment would be made at the rank of tenured associate or full professor; a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level is also possible for candidates with a minimum of five years’ teaching experience.  Responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate lecture and seminar teaching, participation in School programs and governance, plus the possibilities of administrative and academic direction of the Ph.D. program or M.E.D. program and studio teaching.  The successful applicant would play a major role in leading research and publication initiatives at the School; leading students and faculty in the planning of academic conferences, seminars, and exhibitions; and helping to lead the School in its collaborations and relationships with other programs and professional schools around the Yale campus.


Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in architecture, history of art, or a related field.  Candidates for professorship at Yale are expected to stand among the foremost leaders in their fields throughout the world.  They should possess an international reputation based on a distinguished record of scholarly and critical publication, lecturing, curatorial, or design activity.  A professional degree in architecture and professional experience would also be highly desirable, along with experience in leading or teaching in graduate level studios.
