Description

The College of the Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking an Associate Dean to join its staff beginning July 1 of the 2013-2014 academic year. Rank, salary and tenure negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Dean will be the principal deputy to the Dean of the College of the Arts and will serve in a continuing twelve-month appointment with faculty rank.  Working collaboratively with the Dean, staff, Directors, Heads and faculty, the Associate Dean will assist in matters relating to curriculum, program development, strategic planning, and faculty development activities; serve as facilitator for interdisciplinary collaborations and co-curricular activities and events; coordinate SACS Accreditation activities; teach one course per semester, coordinate college communications (eNewsletters, Annual Report, web content, etc.), and perform other duties as assigned by the Dean. 

QUALIFICATIONS

A terminal degree required.  Must have excellent organization and communication skills and ability to bring parties to consensus.  Collegiality and good citizenship required.

ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT

The College of the Arts is one of nine degree-granting units at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  It consists of the School of Architecture and Design, the School of Music and Performing Arts, and the Departments of Visual Arts.  The University is one of eight publicly supported universities governed by the University of Louisiana System and enrolls more than 16,700 students.  The University offers degrees in 54 undergraduate units, 20 post-baccalaureate certificates, the master’s degree in 26 disciplines and the doctorate in 9 disciplines.
