ACSA Announces Search for New Executive Editor of the Journal of Architectural Education
The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) is seeking a new executive editor for the Journal of Architectural Education. The editor will succeed Ellen Dineen Grimes, who edited the flagship publication for ACSA since 2011. The ACSA has appointed Professor Graham Livesey, University of Calgary, to serve as interim executive editor of the JAE while the search is being conducted.
Founded in 1947, the JAE is the longest established premier journal of its kind with an estimated circulation of over 10,000. The journal is published two times each year in partnership with Routledge/Taylor & Francis. Each issue features blind peer-reviewed contributions presented under two general categories, Scholarship of Design and Design as Scholarship. Additional published content presently includes reviews, commentaries, interviews, invited commentary, and other commissioned articles.
“JAE is the leading peer-reviewed publication in architectural education and the editorial board members contribute countless hours in reviewing, editing, and designing the journal,” said ACSA President Donna V. Robertson, FAIA. “The challenges of publishing a peer-reviewed journal for a broad audience are high. This transition is an opportunity to evaluate the roles and expectations of the Executive Editor and the Editorial Board while continuing the rigorous peer review work that has made the journal a globally respected venue.”
Professor Livesey becomes Interim Executive Editor from the JAE Editorial Board, which he joined in 2009. He served on the ACSA Board of Directors for five years, including three years as Canadian Director and two years as Treasurer. During that time, Livesey served on the ACSA Publications Committee, including as the ACSA board liaison with the JAE Editorial Board.
"Graham Livesey’s experience with both the JAE and the ACSA board makes him the ideal candidate to step in and lead the publication forward as we prepare a search,” President Robertson said.
