Associate Professor Alfredo Fernandez-Gonzalez was selected as the recipient of the 2011 UNLV Alumni Association Outstanding Faculty Award.  This prestigious campus-wide award recognizes “a faculty member who embodies a commitment to excellence and demonstrates outstanding contributions to both UNLV and the public it serves.”  The selection committee commended Prof. Fernandez-Gonzalez for his research and body of publications, his contributions to UNLV and the student community, and his overall achievements at UNLV.  This award also brings two one-time $1,500 scholarships for School of Architecture students, to be awarded in Prof. Fernandez-Gonzalez name during the fall semester.

Assistant Professor Glenn NP Nowak and members of the graduate Hospitality Design (HD) Studio have been invited to the 10th Annual Asia Pacific Forum for Research on Tourism held this July in Singapore.  Professor Nowak will be making six unique presentations stemming from design investigations and research generated through the studio’s proximity to “The Strip,” association with the profession, and dedication to theses surrounding hospitality design inquiry.
